Red Rooster was recognised for leading the way in Sustainable packaging design and innovation at the Annual Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) Awards this week in Melbourne.
Red Rooster took home the Food and Beverage award for sustainability efforts. With the award accepted on the brand’s behalf by Supply Chain Manager Cheryl Lou-Hing.
Every year as a member of APCO we put together a review of our sustainability efforts as well as an action plan on how we as a brand are working towards more sustainable packaging. We were given a score and compared to other businesses in our industry.
Red Rooster was recognised for our partnership with our packaging supplier (Detpak) to review our total portfolio against sustainable packaging guidelines and working towards more recycled content into our packaging. Last year we changed bag formats to reduce 11kg of material in every 1000 bags we use and included at least 50% recycled content in our bags.
